We're naming the brands Sparksense uses and recommend (Hager, GoodWe, Autel) and the honest reasoning behind each.

People often ask what brands we actually use, and we are happy to tell them. After enough jobs you learn which products quietly do their job for years and which ones cause callbacks. Here is the gear we reach for, and the honest reasoning behind each choice. None of this is sponsored; it is simply what has earned our trust on real jobs.
For switchboards we like Hager. It is just good product. We have rarely had Hager gear fail on us, and the way the busbar runs along the bottom of the protective devices into the main switch is genuinely well designed. It makes the board easier and cleaner to put together, which means a tidier install and an easier life for whoever works on it next. When the foundation of your electrical system is reliable and neatly laid out, everything downstream is safer.

On batteries we are installing a lot of GoodWe at the moment, and customers are happy with them. They sit in that mid-range sweet spot: a strong price point, eligible for good rebates, and very simple to put together as a largely plug-and-play setup. They stack neatly and they actually look good on the wall, which matters more than people expect when the unit is going somewhere visible. For most households weighing value against quality, they land in the right place.

For EV chargers, Autel tends to be the pick of the bunch. They are easy to install, they look sleek on the wall, and crucially the app is simple to use. That last point matters more than the spec sheet suggests. Some chargers bury you in tabs and settings you have to configure yourself. The Autels mostly arrive pre-configured and ready to go for a typical household. At the end of the day, most people just want to come home, open the cap, plug in, and walk inside without worrying about tariffs and menus. Autel keeps it simple, and the price point is good too.

One honest caveat: there is no single right answer for every home. The best EV charger depends partly on your car, because charging heads vary across vehicle brands. The best battery depends on your budget, your roof layout, and your system size, since every house is different and we always try to get you as much usable solar energy into storage as possible. What does not change is the reasoning: we choose gear that is reliable, safe, easy to live with, and fairly priced.
