EV charging installed safely, cleanly and correctly
An EV charger is not just another power point. It adds a major new electrical load to your property, which means the installation needs to be designed around your switchboard capacity, existing circuits, available supply, charging speed, cable route, safety protection and future energy plans.
Sparksense Electrical installs EV chargers for homes, apartments, strata properties, commercial buildings, workplaces, car parks and fleet sites across the Central Coast and Newcastle. Every installation is planned by a licensed electrician, completed to current electrical requirements, tested before handover and left clean, labelled and ready to use.
Whether you are installing a single home charger or planning multiple chargers across a commercial site, we help you avoid overloaded circuits, messy cabling, poor charger placement and expensive rework later.

Home EV charger installation
Charging at home is one of the biggest benefits of owning an electric vehicle. SparkSense installs home EV chargers for homeowners across the Central Coast, including wall-mounted chargers in garages, driveways, carports and external parking areas.
Before installation, we check the condition and capacity of your switchboard, confirm the best charger location, assess the cable route and advise whether any upgrade work is needed before the charger can be installed safely.

Commercial EV charger installation
Commercial EV charging needs more planning than a standard domestic installation. A workplace, strata building, retail centre, car park or fleet facility may need multiple chargers, centralised load management, cable tray installation, switchboard upgrades, network connectivity and staged rollout planning.
Sparksense Electrical designs and installs commercial EV charging infrastructure for businesses and managed properties that need dependable charging without overloading the building’s electrical supply.
Commercial EV charger work may include:
- Multi-bay EV charging installations
- Commercial car park charging
- Strata and apartment EV charging
- Workplace and staff charging
- Fleet vehicle charging infrastructure
- Smart load management
- Central control hub integration
- 5G/Wi-Fi enabled charger connectivity
- New switchboard supply and installation
- Cable tray design and installation
- Remediation of failed or non-compliant EV installs
- Warranty and repair work for existing charger installations
Do I need a switchboard upgrade before installing an EV charger?
Sometimes yes. EV chargers place a significant new load on your electrical system. If your switchboard is old, overloaded, missing modern safety protection or still using outdated ceramic fuses, it may need to be upgraded before an EV charger can be installed safely.
A switchboard upgrade may be required if:
- Your switchboard still has ceramic fuses
- Your circuits already trip regularly
- You do not have modern safety switches or RCBO protection
- The switchboard does not have spare capacity
- You are adding solar, battery storage or multiple EV chargers
- The property is older or has had previous electrical additions
- You are installing EV charging in a strata, commercial or multi-vehicle setting
SparkSense can assess your switchboard before quoting the charger installation. If the board is already suitable, we will tell you. If it needs work, we will explain what is required in plain English before anything starts.

Safety First!
If you smell burning, see smoke or sparks, or a circuit keeps tripping, switch off at the main and call a licensed electrician. If you see flames, get everyone out and call 000. Never open a switchboard or attempt electrical repairs yourself.

EV charger installation FAQs
The cost depends on the charger type, distance from the switchboard, cable route, wall type, circuit protection, switchboard condition and whether load management is needed. A simple home installation is usually more straightforward than a strata or commercial car park installation. SparkSense can assess the site and provide a clear quote before work begins.
Sometimes yes, but it depends on the condition and capacity of your existing switchboard. If your board has spare capacity and modern safety protection, an upgrade may not be needed. If it has ceramic fuses, limited capacity, missing safety switches or existing faults, an upgrade may be required before the charger is installed.
